Course Contents

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the historical development of the Turkish economy from the Ottoman State to the Republic of Türkiye. The course aims to examine the main structural characteristics, macroeconomic performance, and economic policies of the Turkish economy in different periods within their historical context. It also seeks to help students evaluate changes in growth and development strategies, inflation, fiscal and monetary policies, budget and debt management, balance of payments problems, privatization, labor and capital markets, and key sectors, and to draw policy implications for the present and the future based on historical experience.
