Head of the Department's Message

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Department of Political Science and International Relations.

As you embark on an important stage of your university life, we are delighted to welcome you to our Department. Political Science and International Relations are dynamic fields that enable us to understand political systems, institutions and processes, relations among states, and developments in an increasingly interconnected world. Our primary aim is to provide you with a strong academic foundation while helping you develop critical and analytical thinking skills.

Our curriculum, supported by a qualified and experienced academic staff, introduces you to the key concepts, theories and debates in Political Science and International Relations while placing strong emphasis on the development of the skills and competencies required in the 21st century. These include accessing and critically evaluating information, research and analysis, problem-solving, effective communication and collaboration, digital competence, creativity, and the ability to engage with different perspectives and adapt to changing circumstances. To support these competencies, our courses incorporate student-centred approaches such as discussion, research, presentations, group work, and the analysis of current developments.

We also consider our international and multicultural academic environment an essential part of your educational experience. As a 100% English-medium program, we provide you with an environment in which you can develop your academic and professional English skills. You will also have the opportunity to learn a second foreign language, including Russian, Spanish, German or Chinese. Learning another language can help you communicate across cultures, understand different perspectives more closely, and follow developments in the world through a wider range of sources.

Through Erasmus+ exchange opportunities, you can study in different countries and experience diverse academic and cultural environments. In addition, Antalya Bilim University’s International Cooperative Education Program offers you the opportunity to combine your academic education with two semesters of real work experience, enabling you to apply the knowledge and skills you acquire at university in a professional setting.

Throughout your years at the Department, we aim to support you in becoming not only well-equipped graduates of Political Science and International Relations, but also curious, questioning and independent individuals who can evaluate different perspectives, adapt to new conditions, and apply what they learn in diverse contexts.
