Responsibilities of Patients and Relatives
Responsibilities of Patients and Relatives
1. Responsibility to Provide Information
So that examination, diagnosis and treatment can be carried out correctly, patients are responsible for giving healthcare staff complete and accurate information about their health, current and past illnesses, the medications they use, known allergies and treatments received.
2. Responsibility to Follow Recommendations
Patients are responsible for following the treatment plan and recommendations explained by the dentist in charge of their treatment, using prescribed medications and treatments as recommended, and attending the check-ups requested of them on time.
They are expected to inform healthcare staff promptly of any changes, unexpected situations or side effects that arise during treatment.
3. Responsibility When Refusing Planned Treatment
Within the legislation and medical requirements, the patient has the right to refuse the planned treatment. If treatment is refused, the patient should consider the consequences of refusal and sign the relevant documents after being duly informed.
The will of a conscious patient who is competent to make decisions is decisive; a relative may not exercise this right in place of the patient's explicit will.
4. Responsibility to Follow the Institution's Rules
Patients are responsible for complying with the working procedures, application and appointment processes, security rules and other practices set by Antalya Bilim University Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Centre.
Patients are expected to help ensure that health services are delivered in an orderly and safe manner.
5. Responsibility to Show Respect
Patients are responsible for respecting the rights and personalities of other patients, relatives and staff at our Centre.
Behaviour that may disturb others or disrupt the institution — such as speaking loudly, making noise, threats, insults, violence, or the use of tobacco and similar products — must be avoided.
6. Responsibility to Comply with Infection Control
Patients and their relatives are responsible for complying with the infection control rules set by our Centre and the information given by healthcare staff to prevent infections and their spread.
They are expected to observe hand hygiene, mask use, isolation rules and other infection control measures deemed necessary.
7. Payment Responsibility
Patients are responsible for paying the examination, test, treatment and other health service fees falling to them, in accordance with the legislation in force and the relevant payment rules.
In the event of intentional damage to our Centre's fixtures, medical devices, equipment or consumables, the patient and/or the responsible person is liable for covering the damage in accordance with the relevant legislation.
8. Responsibility to Follow Visitor and Companion Rules
Patients and their relatives are responsible for complying with our Centre's visitor and companion rules.
9. Responsibility Regarding the Use of Visual Material for Educational and Scientific Purposes
Within the scope of evaluating the health services provided at our Centre for education, scientific research and professional development, and provided that they are duly informed and give explicit consent, patients may allow photographs, videos, images and similar visual material relating to their treatment to be used for educational and scientific purposes.
Even when permission is given, care is taken to protect personal and health information that could directly or indirectly identify the patient, to respect the patient's privacy, and to use visual material only for the permitted purpose and scope.
A patient's refusal to permit the use of visual material may not adversely affect their access to health services or their rights regarding treatment.
The patient may state their preference and consent regarding the use of their photographs, videos or other visual material for educational and/or scientific purposes through the information and consent processes provided by the Centre.
